Volunteers wanted at La Trobe’s Cottage
If you like interacting with people, promoting and interpreting Victoria’s history, then volunteering at La Trobe’s Cottage may be something that interests you. We are always looking for volunteers to act as guides or receptionists, or to assist in maintaining La Trobe’s re-created garden with its many heritage plants.
The Cottage is open to the public every Sunday afternoon 1pm - 4pm, October through to April. Booked tours are conducted for groups all year from Monday to Saturday. They are also conducted for visitors to Government House on the first Monday of the month.
Guides and receptionists are usually rostered one Sunday afternoon each month, and guides may also be rostered for the group tours as required. They meet many fascinating visitors in the process.
An interest in Melbourne's early history and good communication skills are desirable. Guide Notes and training are provided.
Garden working bees are held monthly, currently on the third Tuesday of the month.
